Renoise 3.3 on Macbook pro (mid 2012)

Hi, im interested in buying Renoise 3.3. but just wandering if it would work properly on my laptop, Macbook Pro 13-inch (mid 2012. Does anyone here have experience about this?

My specs are:
2,5 Ghz Intel Core i5
4 Gt 1600 Mhz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000, 1536 Mt
500 Gt SSD (SATA)

Im interested in how well vst plugins (like Korg Legacy, UVI’s Digital synsations etc) would perform in it… i would use probably like 2-3 vst’s simultaneously.

I was until recently running renoise on a mid 2013 MBP with no issues. Although I didn’t use many vstis, it was never a problem to run a few instances. You can always use the plugin grabber or render selection features to bounce/freeze vsts if you run into cpu issues

Just try the demo?

I’m running Renoise 3.3.2 just fine on a MacBook Pro mid-2012. 2.9Ghz i7 here running High Sierra (10.13). I’ve used the Korg stuff and it’s been fine (M1 & MS20 mostly). Not sure about simultaneous VSTis, but I typically use a ton of VST effects, I just loaded up an old track and it has 70 VSTs spread across 16 channels. I use a lot of the Waves stuff, but also Valhalla, Audiothing, PSP, and Amplitube from IK Multimedia. For VSTis I’ve got Arturia, AAS, TAL, Korg and Pianoteq.

Trying the demo is probably the best way to see if it works for you, though!

By the way, if you decide you need extra power on that machine, the mid-2012s can be user-upgraded to 16GB of RAM, and so can the hard drive (I’m using a 2TB Crucial MX500 SSD). The SSD upgrade made a massive difference in system speed, it feels like a whole new computer.

Thanks for your answers. I have been testing this demo (3.3.2) now and it seems to work like a charm. So i guess that’s a promising sign.
