Renoise For Ipad?

WILL THERE BE TEH RENOISE FOR IPHONE???/

Yup… desktops/laptops and touch devices will converge at some point… so probably no real point in thinking about it now. Making a dedicated Renoise controller app to use with most popular touch devices is kind of overkill as there will be modular controller apps that use MIDI and/or OSC… Renoise only needs to support and make use of these protocols as much as possible.

yup. and with modular synthesis to boot.

HYPNOTOAD

oh and check out iElectribe for fun.

which leads to the definite statement that anything which we may release for iPad would certainly not be called Renoise and be a tracker

There is another one:

Renoise as it is can be used on 1024x600 screen and single core Atom@1,6GHz
with some capability. It’s not far fetched to imagine we could get something
comparable on smartphone class devices in near future.

Peter Kirn of CDM on Griid, the upcoming grid controller for Live: “This also makes me wonder what may be possible with Renoise’s pattern editor, which also uses colored blocks to show off units of patterns and the like (and could similarly be controlled from new input devices thanks to its API).”

This would work on the iPad via Safari. You inherit the “ipad touch API” for free!

Very smart.

That is awesome, Bantai.

Another way to control from the iPad would be using the Air Display app with the Duplex virtual controllers:

And it would also work on the iPhone/iPod Touch if the window can be sized to fit.

How about an ARM port for the Pandora. It’s got a keyboard.

if you are a portable obsessed guy like me you can always write songs in milkytracker on a pda, save them in xm format and then import them to renoise…unfortunately pattern effect commands wont translate…so milkytracker on pda is good as a portable ‘sketchpad’ anyways…

If you are looking for a portable tracker SunVox is the way to go. Maybe more Buzz-like than Renoise but you have Palm, iPhone/iPad and Windows Mobile support in addition to Windows, OSX and Linux. The GUI is sort of anti-thesis of Renoise as you have to scale the different windows instead of using tabs.

Which does leave room for a tracker designed specifically for the touchscreen as opposed to Sunvox which was clearly not.

Huh, I’ve been using SunVox on my Ipod Touch and have come to the opposite conclusion.
It’s quite easy to manipulate the interface with my fingers, and it’s nice that I can arrange it the way I want.
It seems perfectly suited to a touchscreen.

I don’t think the touch screen will take over, there are two many applications that always need the use of a mouse.

sunvox is cool but overall i found milkytracker way better…its because you cant see enough tracks at the same time on sunvox… then again i was quite used to milkytracker before trying sunvox, admittedly sunvox has more features and synthesis too. im still trying to get to grips with using renoise at the moment, thats the most important. but for portable stuff lgpt is really great and comfortable to use…live mode is awesome, it has the use of tables which sunvox cant do…they can both render to wav which is really good… they are both free!!! (lgpt its possible to use midi if you use the obscure gp2x handheld) at the end of the day…if you use any of them a lot it will give good results…

Heh, just found this topic. :) Glad my subliminal messaging worked.

Bantai, I’d love to see more of what you’re doing. Talking to a number of people about doing more HTML-based implementation on Android and iOS. The portability is fantastic - right down to dropping things on desktop.

And touch control of the pattern sequencer would be, of course, terrific, and easier to do in Renoise than any other current host because of the ease of scripting. I’ll have a look at it, too; lots of ways to skin this cat.

I like the idea of a portable tracker, too, since you could easily drop ideas back in Renoise on your computer. There’s already a port of a mod player on Android; I hope we can investigate turning it into a simple editor. I think it’s worth redesigning for the peculiarities of these form factors, to make something new – a sketchpad, a place where you might come up with different ideas than sitting with your keyboard and computer.

just get an ep121, the best tablet so far imho… not a gadget but a real computer in tablet form.

No, but I am gonna try today with my HTC Hero Android
