There’s not a “they” in trolls. It’s not a group of people who collaborate on making the internet a shitty place. It’s just shitty people making shitty comments all the time. You’ve got them outside of the internet as well, on the internet it’s just easier to be that kind of person because you’re hidden behind anonymity…
There’s a difference between the act of trolling and being a troll. The act of making a horrible destructive cynical pulled out of the ass comment and being an asshole (all the time). I could just “troll” you as well, doesn’t necessarily make me a fulltime troll.
But to be honest I don’t see a lot of trolling or trolls around here. Maybe once a year you see a guy make a topic “Fuck Renoise, this is bullshit”.
We don’t have much trollers that make lives of others miserable so miserable that the forum isn’t bareable anylonger. So far i can remember, one person was kicked and banned regarding trolling from this forum and Taktik kicked him personally, so that much he got on everybodies nerves here (got many warnings and also already a few temporary bans). Simply ignore trolls or attempts to trolling and everything will remain fine and that is really not too hard if you think a bit further.
if you don’t like trolls (those who match your definition of troll, actually), just ignore them. But it seems you just can’t stand them, so ok…
about beginners: you have been a beginner yourself. Times have gone when there wasn’t Internet and people did learn by experimenting and studying their tools. NOw people are freaking impatient and use Google to lurk through forums or ultimately they ask for mostly stupid questions, to which dedicated and patient people reply.
so yes, you defined yourself as a caveman in one of your last posts, and probably the place where you feel the most comfortable is your cavern and there is where you should be all the time. Don’t take these words as an offence because they aren’t intended to be so: it’s just the way you are.
Sharing your knowledge wouldn’t hurt, anyway; after all, this is how we emerged from caves and evolved up to being able to troll on Internet forums
Yeah, I called myself a caveman. Regarding the primitive but effective tools I use to do the things I do with Renoise. But hey, if you want me to be a caveman by personality, that better stays in his cave… I’m of course anything you guys want me to be. I’m meanwhile used to it. How could I tell something different, when you already know, it’s just the way I am?
The only one who really understood something of what I said seems to be Engine. So there’s still hope out there.
Because I quit working for and sharing with people I don’t know and because I don’t spend 24/7 on an internet forum, I’m a hermit?
Let’s just hope the other 99% hermits on the forum won’t be too surprised by this news then.

So I realize I don’t know you being that I’ve only been on the forum for a little while and new to Renoise as well as not being familiar with your work. But it seems to me from my observations on this thread, that you should be stoked. The worst criticism an artist can get, is no criticism at all. There’s no feeling worse then when you work really hard on something and your proud of it, so you post it on a forum or facebook or what ever and no one say’s anything. Too me, it feels like my work had no meaning to anyone. That it didn’t have an impact. It wasn’t even worth trolling. And in that silence all you can hear are you own self criticisms and fear and it drives you back to the dark.
But whatever not everybody is always going to like what you do and often times nobodies going to like it, and all you can do is get back to work and try to learn from your mistakes and hopefully do better the next time. But hey this is just an outsiders perspective, so I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.
Haha. The problem there is probably, that one guy first needs to piss off the entire forum. Most gays work together to piss off one guy and that’s where the problem is but the pesterers can keep doing it. Weak.
I can understand Bit Arts, I’ve got stuff here in renoise too, scripts etc, that I’m just not gonna put an effort in anymore to share em…
Of course to make a strong community it helps to have a common enemy, but communities that always pick an enemy inside… are sick.
I thought I have read almost all the thread which contain contents by Bit_Arts, but I have must have missed some. Could anyone point me to an example of “guys working together to piss off” Bit_Arts (or Cas, if it is easier)?
of course everyone has his own sensitiveness and feeling; for example, Bit_Arts seems to be offended by the words I have wrote some posts above, even if I was simply translating his caveman metaphore from his basic tools usage to his hermit behaviour, but he seems to refuse any post which does not contain his exact words quoted and subscribed; anything else is seen by him like an attack from a person who doesn’t understand what he said and has to be replied with defensive sarcasm
with these premises, it is quite easy to feel like everyone is cooperating with the aim of convincing someone to leave the boards. I’ve never felt something like that was happening towards him, so please enlighten me with some URL’s
Bit_Arts: yes, I can read English, I know why you defined yourself a caveman, I was simply using your words in a different manner to tell that you don’t just look like a caveman because of your tools usage, but also because of your need to work and “live” alone. Don’t take everything like a personal attack by people trying to “make something of yourself”. Personally, I have nothing against you and have no interest at all in attacking you. Of course I don’t know you and can’t judge you about your personal life. You are most probably a good and kind person in real life, with lots of interest, a family and an interesting work, but on this forum you look like an overreactive guy.
I would just love to view some more of your scripts shared with the community, but if you are not willing to do so, that’s fine

All I can say: hopefully I have all of Bit Arts’ creations in my hd, because those are completely worth my time. Sad to see you stop sharing some of the most intuitive things people have managed to pull outta Renoise.

Okay, let’s see. A few days ago I’ve posted a simple and friendly statement, to avoid rumors or expectations or what ever you want to call it and to explain things the people who might care. Right? That at least was the whole intention.
You know, I already told that a whole while ago. And it still is that way. As soon, as I post something else than files, and it totally doesn’t matter if angry, friendly or nothing of both at all, insane discussions start.
If I’d let a fart here, soon someone would appear discussing the smell, flavor and of course the results of his psychoanalysis about the reason why I farted. He also gives a lecture then about what he assumes to be my favorite food, what I ate over the last 30 days to achieve that fart flavor, while reconstructing the recipes for all meals in detail, followed by a first remote diagnosis of my intestinal mucosa. Meanwhile someone else already started drawing, what he supposes the x-ray picture of my bowel to look like and consults someone else, who joined the thread for no special reason at all. And finally, after blowing up the thread to the max, it’s all clear: I’m a pregnant hermit from Saturn, prefering to live in a cave aaaand I’ve got bowel cancer, located exactly at cm 129 and at the size of at least a basketball, not to talk about the horrible athlete’s foot some other specialist diagnosed independently from the others. And the fart of course is the cast-iron evidence.
You know what? It was just a fart! There could indeed something strange - not to say nuts - be going on here. But it’s not me. That’s for sure.
You forget the points where you cut in everytime to correct explanations as assumptions or whatever reasoning you want to throw into the debate. It is not that these discussions start an insane life all by themselves, you understand?
You know best what works for you, but if other people think otherwise, then let them. We are all people and individually having own perspectives and opinions attached to these perspectives and these ideas can also be easily misunderstood while casted out.
Misunderstanding should be no problem as long as people don’t jump directly into any kind of conclusions but ask first or explain how it is interpreted. The last part is a hard thing for many people in this world and is the thing that shift debates unnessesarily out of balance which i personally find a pity.
How could I tell something different, when you already know, it’s just the way I am?
