Since a few people seem still to be interested in the Formant Filter, I’ve done a complete re-setup. And so far it has become way smaller and easier to handle.
New:
8 Frequency-Hydras have been replaced with 2 LFOs
Vowel Key-Switch can be done on the actual “sound channel” now
Cleaner sound (Each formant now receives its related frequency band only. Optimal split frequency for each vowel is dynamically calculated by a meta mixer.)
This is a very simple and early state. For now I dropped morphing and other direct controls. I’m trying to get everything into one DSP chain, so you can just connect a single Hydra to two Filters on the Sends. Seems to be more complicated than I thought, at least with the controls. To be honest, it’s driving me nuts. Anyway, if needed, you can still adjust morphing with the inertia on each filter.
I remembered this track indeed back then, when I was thinking about what demo-“phrase” I could do with the formants. But I didn’t just want to copy, so I dropped the “A-E-” and the notes are slightly different.
Bit_Arts, your work is the greatest source of inspiration for me and a wonderful way to learn all possibilities hidden in Renoise.
I read a lot of other “tricks” you published, but unfortunately the links are deleted.
Your 303-simulation for instance gives me a whole new view on building synths with Renoise without using VSTIs.
Thanks a lot!
Glad you find them useful. I usually don’t delete any local XRNS. I don’t remember everything I posted back then. But if you run on a dead link, just let me know what it is, and I’ll try to find and re-upload it.
Hm, can’t remember exactly, 'cause I read such a lot of threads last days…
There was something like a drumsynth that’s interesting me. Possibly you know what I mean.
Bit_Arts became frustrated with the forum (for the 2nd time) because people were not giving him enough respect for his work (or something like that), so then he took all of his files offline and left.
It’s a pity that he let such silly day-to-day forum nonsense affect him so deeply and personally, because he’s a smart guy with a lot of cool ideas to share, but nevertheless I would not expect to see him upload his stuff again here. I can’t imagine that he will come back a 3rd time, since he’s likely to experience exactly the same frustration over and over again.
Just checked his profile. Indeed you’re right. Looks like he is still somewhat lurking here from time to time (last active a week ago). Can’t get enough of this brutal Renoise forum, I guess
yeah, it’s really a pity that he left again. He seem to be really picky about feedback; expecially the second time he left I saw no real reason for it. If everyone on this forum had his same sensitiveness, it would be void since ages
anyway, let’s hope he will be back on posting some interesting stuff as he did before
This is a fairly common thing in social networking, people get fed up with it and leave their communities every now and again, but most often they come back, it is a regular process and does not have that much to do with the feedback (or the lack of it) we get.
It is the same way you can’t track all the time, you end up running out of inspiration eventually, and will have to take a break.
I’m sorry, but I can’t consider pure and obvious personal trolling as “feedback” or disliking it as being “picky”. Someones “Hey, I’ve got absolutely nothing to say. So let’s just troll the idiot that keeps posting his stuff for me, while other lamers maybe join me trolling. Always works.” really isn’t the attitude, that motivates me in anyway. Actually I could live with some trolls. I’m finally just not stupid enough anymore to share my work with the exactly same ppl.
Just have a look at the tips & tricks forum to see what happens, when you leave it to theses bighmouths. Makes me either grin or facepalm almost everytime I check the forum. The really skilled users post less and less. Maybe because it’s way easier and more relaxing to just watch the whole game from a neutral stand outside, while keeping your work for yourself. If you know how to handle your stuff, why bother yourself with community work? WAY more comfortable and easier without.
I’m sorry for the people with manners and a friendly attitude, that in the end somehow suffer from the trolls crap now. I’m really sorry for that. But that’s life. A few freaks poop on the buffet and ruin the whole wedding party.
Me posting here on a regular basis won’t ever happen again. Sorry. Some easy help now and then might be the rare exception.
thing is, there are mostly repeating questions or stuff that has nothing to do with renoise,
but vst, OS-related, mixing/mastering, acoustics or workflow discussions.
my guess would be you are a true die-hard tracker from the old days.
that makes it even harder to except the loss of that ‘scene’. (besides the ‘internet-manner’ of most ppl these days)
btw: the “internet” troll was named in the late 97/early 98 but becoming a trend in 2000/01.
its like a symbol. if you call them trolls, they will most likely act as such.
just my bolognese to this spaghetti.
