Renoise gate crackles using attack of 0,01ms

Hi,

the internal gate effect of Renoise slightly crackles when using the lowest possible attack of 0,01ms. Can this be improved? Thanks.

Increase the attack or release?

It’s fast but not fast enough to be a waveshaper, so it cuts.

unless you mean crackles from performance issues, which is not something I’ve ever experienced with the renoise gate

Hm, couldn’t the gate be improved for less crackling?

Here is an example song, higher the attack of the gate and the crackles go away.

Looks like it’s working as intended from first glance, just increase the attack so that the gate would react to the signal “as a whole but not really” not to 0 and max points of the sine individually.

? I think since the minimum value of the attack is 0,01, also this value was not intended to crackle. Maybe the interpolation could be improved. Or let’s say it in another way: What’s the benefit of the possibility to set the attack to 0,01, if it always crackles?

There is no interpolation, you want an RMS attack, you can build one but you’ll be limited by the resolution from the BPM/LPB/TPL , or simply increase the attack/release.

It doesn’t always crackle, just increase the release. The purpose of having it is having a faster attack stage.
