Renoise Line In Live

Hello renoisers. I’m trying various ways of working with renoise, and one i’m trying now is a little tricky. Let’s say i’ve got an external groovebox and i want to sync it with renoise via midi. That’s no problem. But what if i want the sound from the groovebox to be processed by renoise internal effects while playing along with it? I tried to play around with midi/audio latencies but i can’t get them synced, latency is too big. Does anybody know how to handle it?

I know that it wouldn’t work if i would play along with unsynced keyboard synth because latency is just too large for human player, but i should be able to set the latencies if i just wish to use a device with sequencer?

Sry for bad english, hope you’ve understood what i’m talking about

The only way to circumvent latency issues is using a good low latency audio card where you can set the buffers to 64 or 128 without getting crackles when playing live.
Regarding the platform you are working with, on Linux and OSX, midi latency is not much an issue, on Windows you need the WDM drivers to get low latency midi response.

Working with external gear and routing those back into your computer is not easy to get this done with low latency. Without latency is inevitable though, buffers are needed for the processing.

Thanks, ill work something out then…
