Renoise Redux Released

IC. Than it’s maybe easier if you pack all that stuff into XRNI instruments in Renoise, which you then import into Redux.

This could be a good job for a tool to: phrazifying and “batch exporting” Renoise songs into multiple XRNIs.
Renoise’s simple “Pattern Editor” → “Create Phrase from Selection” maybe already can help you here in simple cases.

Great idea, I’ll try this thanks. Although I think you can only “Create phrase from selection” when there’s a single sample / instrument on that given selection. Eitherway, it’s not too much hassle to just copy and paste each individual note-line / effect-line in a track. A batch export tool would be a very good idea though, I agree.

because we did not expect that people want to use Redux within Renoise

Actually I would rather not use it this way, but it’s the only way I found to be able to resample renoise instrument (render to sample like vst). My renoise instruments are really cpu hungry (lot of modulations effects etc.)
Do you plan to add option to render to sample renoise instruments in Renoise? Or maybe for such option should I buy Redux?

Ok, there are already 4 hosts where Redux is not working: 1st Samplitude, 2nd Sequoia, 3rd.Samplitude music studio, 4th Music Maker. This is not a fault of Redux by the way.

hi all,

old skool tracker user (med/octamed), renoise dabbler and was most interested in redux -

i saw the dev quote earlier

“There is no live recording mode. You must program phrases via the computer keyboard, step by step.”

so i’m playing a cool sample-tastic triggery thing on my midi keyboard - and i can’t get that into the tracker?

a user can only make use of the tracker interface to build phrases with a pc keyboard, line by line?

I can’t hit play with edit enabled and input some stuff via live playing - to later tweak line by line?

(this was how i tracked on my amiga… so is kind of engrained, the realism/feel/vibe of live playing, then edited with tracker precision - is the ultimate )

i can’t imagine that is true but i think it might be. please correct me, please!

atm it feels like giving me the uss enterprise for my birthday and saying ‘oh yeh, you can’t use warp speed and the transporter only takes you to the canteen btw’ :frowning:

Hi, I think the dev statement was meant regarding the sequences in the arpeggiator / phrases section. Personally I don’t care about step sequencer arps, I do them manually away, since they tend to sound too static.

cheers,

just seems that the tracker aspect is being kind of wasted as it is.

sure quite often i’d program something in manually line by line, but often the birth of an idea/groove/thing is when you’re bimbling around on the keyboard with a sample or three.

so simple recording into a phrase from midi seems fundamental to it being a creative tool.

atm its a fab sampler with tracker bits. i was hoping for vst sample/tracker on equal footing is suppose.

still coming up with some fun stuff using the demo material, but getting my own ideas in seems thwarted somewhat, currently just recording any bimbles as midi in reaper and rendering to wav. bit dirty but works, however crucially i am left either editing pesky midi roll in reaper (YUK) or not editing at all. so tracker aspect is essentially bypassed.

Hey Guys!

Great to see all the Redux enthusiasm

I just wanted to congratulate the renoise team and everyone else who was part of the content creation and production. Big ups and many thanks to Taktik, Danoise, Dblue and Achenar on their great work and effort. As well, to the rest of the content designers for a great job!

I threw a little demo jamming through some of the psudaform pack, a few of the factory patches, and a couple other “mystery” patches as well. It’s just a fun thing, but it’s fun to hear Redux doing it’s thing a bit

Hope you all get some inspiration from Redux and make some great music!!

Cheers!

What is best way to buy Renoise and Redux together? Is there a bundle price?

I have had my eye on Renoise for a while, and now Redux will be brilliant inside my current DAW, Sonar. I figured Renoise would be a good complimentary bit of software and let’s face it the developers are doing some amazing stuff so I want to get both.

I figure the best way is to buy Renoise and let Redux through Backstage.

So long EXS24!! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Kontakt Shmontakt. etc.

Thanks for getting this done guys. i’ve barely dipped my toe in and it’s already worth the investment. Logic user for about 5 years or so (Reason & Ableton before that), been anxiously anticipating this for a very long time since starting to dabble in Renoise. Rewiring into Logic was only getting me so far, and i’ve never been able to do full tunes inside Renoise. Redux is like 3 final pieces in 3 different puzzles for me.

Cheers

If you want more, you run renoise in rewire mode. Simple as that.

yes, automation… lets just say you ought to use the renoise inbuilt automations unless you want to be limited to 7bit midi.

but on the plus side, you get everything else (3.1 with “All features of redux coming” is on the way)

Saw + Vowel Filter + Fold Distortion good lord that’s a delicious sound

Really good instrument! Thanks Renoise Team as always. And really big thanks for the Linux version (cause a long time ago I switched totally to Linux for all of my production).

Just have some little problem dragging downloaded from backstage xrnls to Redux (64-bit Linux VST version running on Bitwig Studio host) - can’t get these packs to work.

P.S. Oh God! Seems like it’s using .sfz sample format. I should definately check if it will work with Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra samples described in .sfz format. Very surprizing!

UPD to P.S.: wow! Loaded Sonatina samples without problems. Just seems like round robin isn’t supported, I should write down a feature request somewhere.

Err, is Redux supporting EXS24 presets? How can I do that? In the “other” file browser mode?

Ah and this is totally off topic, but does anybody know a working sf2->sfz converter that actually converts all presets in a sf2 sound bank + modulations etc?

I just fit a room in my budget for a license, just had to get rid of those noise sweeps. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder why i had to pay taxes though? I thought that it was tax free outside EU and that only import taxes applied according to each countrys import laws?

Not a super big deal, but i want to support Renoise, not EU, especially if they are not entitled to it.

Congrats RENOISE team!!! :yeah:

As a RENOISE previous user, RENOISE will be inside my LOGIC system as my phrase sequencer and sampler. I’m more comfortable with RENOISE as a sampler compared to ES2X…

Will be getting at an attractive price because i’m a RENOISE license member

Yayyyyy, I bought it … THank you REnoise for giving us RENOISE owners a nice discounted rate…

I can’t wait to use REDUX inside LOGIC PROX. I know it will be good…
