Renoise Studios

I would, but you forgot the PayPal button :P

Yeah I use a trackerball and the keyboard on my lap so it’s not exactly perfect. Was sitting on the edge of my bed, now I’m on a footstall. Just a decent chair would be helpful ;)

With having no desk at all and no chair, I feel like one of those musicians that usually sit on rail-stations and play bad musix :)

I am a renoise-hippie!

Woahhhh … just browsed the whole thread looking at the pics… Some pics made me wonder…

Do you really need all that gear, Boxes, Synths/Keyboards, Screens & cables to make a good song, or to be a good producer? I rented a room to make a studio before. Not a place to to store the cable salad and the gear, but a place for pease and quiet.

Even if i had all the money in the world i wouldn’t own half the gear shown in some pictures. That’s friggin hilarious. I bet most of it are kept for sentimental value, and are just collecting dust. Even if i had all that gear i wouldnt know what i would do with it all, and i really doubt the gear has anything to do with the final result.

I have a friend, he’s a high-tech freak. He has about as much gear as some of these pictures, but he’s the worst songwriter/producer. It’s funny to see him enjoy himself in his little space with all the gear, but i doubt it will ever lead anywhere. He’s got a good ear for soundquality though, but musically he’s a disaster.

I’d like to wonder if investing in that much gear pays off making money with it, or if it just pays it self off by having fun with all expensive “toys”?

What’s more value?

  • To have it just for bragging with?
  • To have it just for playing with?
  • Needing it to make a living?

Lareux:

this is a question which also puzzles me since a lot of time. Actually, there are some really skilled people who also like to be surrounded by hardware. I have a MIDI drumkit and a MIDI keyboard, but at least they are different instruments :)

Here I come…

Current equipment:

Soundcraft Compact 4, Boss VF-1, POD XT, old DENON amp + Technics SU-V300, JBL monitors, Steinberger Spirit e.guitar, Hohner G3T e.guitar, Edirol PCR-M50 (not shown), Fernandes JV LEB-2 bass.e.guitar, MXL 2003 cond. mic and Sony MDR-7506 Studio Monitor Headphones

machines like the Nord and JD-990 have literally paid my rent for the last 3 years… i often wonder whether i really need a computer

you don’t need a big studio to write a good song - but electronic music’s as much about sounds and technology as it is music… more specialised equipment just means more ways to own your own sound - and less time messing around

look at top film composers like kenji kawai - surely anyone interested in technology music would want to work in a studio like that?

hi! this is me in my new studio

Nice suit, happy_milkshake_man! And uh, what does that great wheel do?

it’s a midi control assigned to filter sweeps.

LOL!!

hahaha awesome, looks like some guy in an ancient submarine

Hehe, tres amusant milkshake. Perhaps you could mod the inner wheel for resonance control?

Just looking back at Squeetz’s post about the old Pioneer receiver, and made me think about the fact that I have video in on my GFX card… think you got a few wheels turning in my head about a nicely fitting setup using my old VSX-804RDS A/V receiver, which has the popular laserdisc input along with the VCR in/out & monitor out. Hmmmm, plus I would like another amp & speakers set up to listen on hi-fi speakers & make comparisons in the same environment… cool, I got 2 excuses!

As for updated pictures, I’m just waiting on a few deliveries to arrive, then I’m gonna have a big tidy & rewire & I’ll post some :)

My dungeon, SFX - Audio Designs.

Enjoy. ;)

Dezacrator - Really nice setup!

if i had a big wheel attached to my setup i would use it for bpm!

rrrrooom rrrooom

lets go… ssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww

Sorry about the blurry picture ;)

The famous Yamaha`s shayit boxes,eh? =)

hehe yeah there pretty bad to listen to for normal use… but hey they look good ;)

Ok this is not my home studio as I’ve yet to get anything picturesque from that place. However, this is where I work. And yes, some Renoising goes on here.

Lots of very very old stuff here. The good tek is at home. Continue to pt2:

Pt2:

Very nice place to work (for now).
