Renoise vs. Elektron

Hey guys,

I purchased an Elektron Analog Keys and was wondering how many of us here in the community have experience running Elektron equipment alongside renoise? Was wondering if anyone has found any good tips/tricks to work with…

The unfortunate thing I have come across with my keys/(A4) as well - Is that once a pattern is sequenced internally, I can not find a way to output that sequence back to a daw (I’m hoping overbridge will take care of this, but most likely not)… This leaves me wondering - How can I track out a pattern with note slide trigs and record direct to the internal elektron sequencer? I am quite versed in the workings of midi in general just have not found any documentation on how to work with the note slide trigs externally (If its even possible), are they just cc commands plotted on top of other notes. or an actual internal funcion only accessible on the elektron itself?

This may be an elektron issue and better off posting in their dedicated forums. But since most Elektron gear seems to be close to the same when it comes down to the brains of it, I am hoping to expand on this and learn how other people are using their gear within the renoise environment. I have found good success syncing them up via usb and recording direct to the elektron sequencer by pattern, have yet to see if its possible to record a whole song into a song sequence but will be pretty cool if it can.

My current process has been recording in ext midi mode to a track (in renoise/ableton etc) it will record joystick movement and aftertouch, then can record back direct to track on the elektron and it holds all the information. Basically opening up its recording features more than originally possible on the internal sequencer by going ootb back to itb. Any other cool tricks out there?

A4 and AK can not sequence external MIDI gear. The only external sequencing possible is through the CV/gate jacks.

Yeah, thats a bummer. I’m not looking to sequence other midi gear, just to capture the sequence I made - I could make up a quartz patch (what I’m most familiar with) to track and handle the cv data to convert back to a midi sequence - But, is there anything (stable?) out there that already exists software wise? Seems like quite the hack just to get a sequence out of the box.
