Renoise Window Position For Second Monitor Not Remembered

I already asked about this for plugin editor windows but I also realized that Renoise itself does not remember the window position when using it on a second monitor. I have a need to use Renoise in a dual monitor setup where my main monitor will be used for something else and need to have Renoise show up on the second monitor every time it is launched.

I’m sure this will be useful to others who needs flexibility within dual/multiple monitor setups. Ableton Live, for example, already does remember the last used window position even for second monitors every time it is launched. Is this doable for Renoise too?

Hello HEXnibble,

Renoise already remembers the positions on the plugin windows in songs. Just like it does for Renoises main window.

For some reason it does not do so in your setup, so could you please let us know your monitor setup layout. Where you’ve connected which monitor to, at which screen resolution?

Please let us also know which version of Renoise and which version of OSX you are using.

I’m on OS X Leopard 10.5.8 running Renoise 2.6 beta5. My macbook’s resolution is 1440 x 900 and my second monitor (NEC 2070WNX) is 1680 x 1050.

I think I figured out my problem at least for the Renoise window part. I had been moving the Renoise window to the second monitor and clicking on the green “maximize window” button to fill the screen, which was not remembered. But when I drag the window corner to fill the screen instead, it does get remembered. Something about clicking the green maximize button prevented its position from being remembered.

Plugin windows positions are still not being remembered.

Thanks for the info. Where is the second monitor attached: to the left, right, top or bottom of the macbook’s screen? Is the external screen the one with the menu bar or has the macbook’s screen the menu bar on top?

The second monitor is attached to the right. The macbook’s screen is the one with the menu.
