I have a bassline track, and I want to send the notes (and all the other info, like volume and pitch) to another track with another instrument.
How can I do this? Do I have to clone the track and then change the instrument value? Is it possible to send the bassline track notes and all the automation info to another track, rooting it to a new instrument?
You probably mean “route”, and your savings would be the Convert Instrument Number tool (I would vote it for single most useful tool); for instance, I have a shortcut for it’s ‘Convert (Whole Track) Instruments to current’ on Shift+NumPadEnter
So workflow for me is like, Shift-F4 to copy track, Shift-F5 to paste, then Shift-NumPadEnter. All settled
(tools can be downloaded then installed via drag&drop!)
Yeah, the other day i was just asking myself the same question, i wanted to octave-double a bass track. I simply got around by adding extra keyzone layers to the instrument settings, …
…but being able to do this without copy/pasting a bunch of stuff (ie. with some kind of meta-device) would be really, really awesome.
Thanks for explaining how to do this, Cas, I was just looking for a guide last night.
What would be really awesome is if they can add a ‘combi’ function to Renoise, where you can link any VSTs to the notes of a given track, and they will all play the notes, without the need to manually copy notes to another track, etc. Then as you change the notes in the track, it plays them back in all the linked VSTs, so that you can easily build up combi patches using different VSTs.
