I’m a sucker for these kind of melodies.
I say keep writing some melodies.
(Much much easier said than done though https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-kY4PLxs92HbE9kQnhfbF9QMlU/view )

I’m afraid you have me confused here, what exactly do you mean with this “bellows.xrns”?
Coming up with the melodies has never been a problem for me, they just pop up in my head, sometimes not the nicest melodies, but melodies nonetheless. The hard part is to arrange the song so that the melodies sounds interesting and not like a turd sandwich with a nice melody on top. I also tend to think a monophonic melody, but at the same time imagining a polyphonic melody, so it’s often hard to make them sound right and flow well.
You are lucky TheBellows, you could count on 3 fingers the amount of times I’ve actually had a ‘melody’ pop into my head. I find I have to wander aimlessly around the keyboard to attempt to come up with a melody…and then I fail.
I suppose I just found it a little interesting with what you wrote in your first post:

Usually when TheBellows posts a song the word ‘melody’ doesn’t really pop into my head…general polyrhythm/glitched insanity springs to mind. (We have polar opposites in taste with music. But there again you have a much higher chance of winning a mutant breaks compo.) I was curious about your melody sir
When I think of the word ‘melody’ I often think of things like the Maple Leaf Rag ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-kY4PLxs92HRld4eWFDb2Zyc1U/view ) Just excellent. No clever mixing/mastering/glitch/stupid DSP. Just quavers and crochets put in the right pitch place at the right time
I hope you do concentrate more on melodic tunes TheBellows (without the glitchy business.) But that is just my opinion and preference. A lot of people on this forum would disagree. Between you and me I think ‘modern’ styles (D’n’B/Glitch/Trap/Insanity) just doesn’t work to well

I don’t know if melody is the best word for it, maybe riff is a better term perhaps? I do have quite a lot of tracks i think of as melodic, but i guess i could say they’re usually more pop-melodic, simple and straight forward. The Maple Leaf Rag is not a particular style that intrigues me much, but i see why you think of it as melodic.
I think of melody as just a sequence of notes that sounds good together, accompagnied by percussion or not and regardless of style of music. I find styles like Black Metal to often be very melodic and i’m shure you probably wouldn’t agree, but that’s ok.
