Might be useful, if the sample editor had an additional toggle button for recording the live output of the master.
well we’ve all been waiting for “Resampling” what Master Track plays for pretty much 22 years
according to “Ideas and Suggestions”
That was a failed attempt at trying to say “it’s been requested before, multiple times”, without sounding like everyone else who writes those exact words to every request that they feel like have been requested multiple times. sorry.
My soundcard (zedi 10fx) can do this, record whatever audio plays through it. Has really sped up the sampling from YouTube as well, no more YouTube to mp3 conversion, straight sampling business . I recommend looking for a soundcard that can do this.
the yt-dlp extension in Paketti lets you just download a YouTube url directly as a sample into Renoise. so: open dialog, paste url, press enter = sample in your song.
Yeah very cool, but not comparable to the ease of use as hitting play for the sentence or snipbit you want and pressing record imo. Also, it works with anything running in the computer or through the mixer.
yep, however, not everyone has a loopback soundcard…
Melda MRecorder - a free vst effect you put on master and record master output. Works great.
Audacity - a free audio app that can record loopback audio even if your soundcard doesn’t have this feature, great for youtube sampling
this works for windows, but might also work for mac os and linux (not sure about that)
Yeeeeah… Looks to me like you missed the point of the suggestion I also can use bitwig or Ableton btw.
This was about a simple to use, simple to implement, practical workflow improvement feature, not a competition of workarounds.
This actually is a very easy workaround, my MOTU M4 soundcard also provides such a loopback input. Thanks for the idea.
Still I think it shouldn’t be too hard to grab the output audio stream internally, providing a toggle record button. Could work in Redux then, too, only grabbing the plugin output instead.
you should just try to repeat these words
“native resampling support”
“natively”
“renoise resampling master… natively”
“native”
etc until the “buy a soundcard, use a 3rd party plugin, record to cassette and sample from that” brigade pipes down.
Love this tool for native resampling. “Render Selected Slots to Sample” by @joule Simple and works like a charm. not live tho, but that’s not a big deal for me. Buried in the forum there are treasures to be unearthed…
Would love to see OP’s suggestion implemented, tho, to be sure
one thing that’s on my Paketti todo-list is to write a “master render” thing for pattern matrix selection / pattern sequencer selection and just current pattern.
but there’s low-hanging fruit to hit before that.
