Sample Effects Processing Without Track Effects?

I’d like to use the renoise sample editor for more creative sample editing/processing. One thing I’ve noticed is that the workflow of setting up track FX for the sole purpose of processing a sample feels a bit clunky. Ideally, I’d like to be able to select a region of a sample, bring up an effect (or better yet, an effects chain), adjust settings, and process it. Any chance we’ll see this in the future (or are there methods to approximate this)?

A native, dedicated ‘sample editor fx - panel’ would be sweet. I remember there was a suggestion for improving the sample editor in general some time ago… (check: here ) I think this suggestion would fit right in.

This could probably be automated to a degree with an appropriate lua-scripted tool. A tool, when launched, could set up a dummy track for fxing purposes which could be discarded afterwards. (or just plain muted, maybe?..) I think dsp chains could be loaded/saved by a script too, but this can also be done through the native GUI. Effectively this dummy track could function as a sort of ‘fx-panel for sample editor’… Hmm…
