Sample recorder behaviour in 3.5

I’ve become very accustomed to recording samples quickly in pattern mode by pressing:

  1. SHIFT+ALT+R (opens sample recorder)
  2. ENTER (arms recording on play)
  3. SPACE BAR (starts recording)

Step 3 doesn’t seem to work for me anymore without clicking outside the sample recorder window first.
Did it change in the new version or it’s something in my settings? I really enjoyed not having to reach for the mouse every time.

See https://forum.renoise.com/t/esc-cancels-sample-recorder-recording-or-if-not-recording-then-closes-the-sample-recorder/75311/3 for the whole story.

Sorry, the link doesn’t work

Should work now.

Did I understand correctly that from now on there will be no way to start playback while sample recorder is in focus?

I also really dislike this new behaviour , already mentioned it during beta

Hook up a midi controller to the start button?

that unfortunately doesn’t solve the “run shortcut to run script to control behaviour = not available due to sample recorder capturing it all” issue

If you don’t mind using a tool, I made TapeDeck to work around some of my frustrations with sample recording. Among other things, it can start playback and recording at the same time. It may or may not suit you depending on what kind of recording you’re doing, but I’m open to suggestions if anything’s lacking.

Looks like a great tool, per-track settings and autoseek by default are really nice features to have!
In my situation though I guess just clicking on the play button would be quicker.
