Sb Live Value & Renoise...how Does It Work?

Hi there!

in:

500mhz compaq
186 ram
xp
sb live val
renoise v1.27 reg. version

out:

I have MMEEGGAA delays on EVERYTHING in renoise.
I have asio enabled but no device is available?
I start sequence…15 after it moves down to 02…not cool ;)
Ofcourse there is absolutely dead silent, and only sporatic f****ed sounds in direct mode…sequencer not good there either…
I tried to instal kxprojects, and renoise found the new drivers but no start on “ctrl” and no sound…uninstalled again…
newest sbliveval drivers…
hmm…I want this to be as instant as ft2, liked the instance in that program…but this feels SLOW and heavy…since I have many xternal instruments, I dont need the 3rd rank ( sorry ) software emulation…stuff like dsp…I was wondering if I could disable some…though I like the cutoff…

Please help me…Since there is no points to give for a right awnser though this would be cool…I give u MY 100 % RESPECT…

PLZ fix this…and tell me, my renoise wont lack, not 0.05% but nada!!

thanx from gatekeeper

…by the way it only detects sb live val…ind direct mode!

Your main problem is that you run Win XP on what I would consider absolute minimum requirements.

I would advice you to check out the XP tweak thread in the tips and tricks forum: “Memory Tweak For Xp”

also check out this thread for general tweak tips: “some tricks for slow CPU users…”

But my no 1 advice would be to downgrade to win98…

…f****ed up…I thought so…damn…thanx alot man!!!

I should say: I have run Renoise on a similar machine (192mb ram though) on win98 and it works fine. But you have to be very careful with effects and vstis.

buy more RAM … or use a light-weight-OS like win9x (but i thing nobody should recommend win9x coz in general win9x is the bigest bug at all ;) )

mhh, not really, a win98SE with those important patches and updates installed is very fast and stable.
You just should not install/deinstall stuff all the time, it easily breaks at that.

I have run Renoise on a 500 mhz celeron with a soundblaster live but with win 2000 and I had 384 meg ram.

yo!!
gk is back…I reversed to 98…things are clearing up…ft2 now works perfect again ;)

but renoise…I have to check…havent slept for…uahh…since I woke up 7.30 yesterday…be back later

ok! ehh…just swaped the value with a audigy from fnac!
running win98se now things looks more stabile…
will test the card…now…
i’ll be back or maby make a new and more saying q! if some thing goes wrong…

if you plan to make use of renoise’s enhanced features like vsti / vst fx support, it’ll be unavoidable to upgrade to some cpu serving at least tripple the frequency of your current clockspeed.
incase you just want to abuse it as yet another ft2 clone - stay with what you already have
the soundcard by the way, is a minor performance influencing factor…

ASIO generally allows you to run lower latencies (means your audio will be more responsive to user interactions) when compared to the directsound interface… but however it won’t help compensating the low performance of your CPU which is the main factor being responsible for managing complex soundscapes and tasks.
