Ok, so basically like this. You have a song which only really has A-note in it. The sample when pressed at A plays 440hz.
EQ10 has 440hz at say +3dB and A# and G# at -3dB.
Song has C,D,E,F,G,A,B scale in use on channel#1 with EQ10 in it, EQ10 has +3dB for each note, but -3dB (or something, just an example) for C# D# F# G# A#.
So a kind of “Musical Scale based EQ”.
(warning, completely faulty terms alert)
So subtractive EQing for non-scale notes and (pretty minor) additive EQing for scale-notes.
