Interesting cacophony, I assume your playing the bass? How about the piano?

The piano is a small akai thing using some sample piano. With a bunch of ring modulation. Bass is my electric bass, sampled and sliced up.

I been thinking about doing something similar with my guitar. What DSP’s are you using for the bass? Any amp simulators?

The bass was recorded into a Tascam digital recorder and select parts of the wave file loaded into Renoise and sliced up. I generally jam along to some percussion backing and then extract any riffs that seem promising. It’s an Ibanez GSR200 so there’s some powered tone control in the source recording.

I then assembled the riff from the slice parts. The track has compression, reverb, EQ, a stereo expander to mono-ize it, and finally a filter to cut the very low end. Plus some sample FX to glide the pitch this way and that.
