warning: this could give you a headache.
some old stuff, some new stuff, some live stuff and some…stuff. Badly stitched together one and all.

so is this what you call the “silent treatment”?
i’ll give it a listen later on tonight while i’m playing trackmania
pretty hardcore shit. i don’t really know much about this kind of music. but let me know if you record more sets, i will listen to them
Just a short note, as it might not be that obvious, all the tracks he mixed together were produced by himself.
Some pretty wacked out material my friend.
I mean that in a good way that is.
I liked the choice of vocals in the beginning. Some of these beats are just disgusting.
I have been wanting to refine my breakcore skills. It’s evident, as a fan of this genre. that you have spent quite some time delicately/painstakenly crafting all of these ever changing beats/sounds.
I am jeaous of how you managed to make some of these beats. To the untrained ear I imagine they think this entire thing is noise. This is some good stuff.
Very experimental and something to be proud of.
Nice work SICKO
BTW - What is that song mixed in @ the very beginning?
I hear it at start and some nice chorus up until 4:00min or so. Nice touch.
umm, do you mean the violins or what?
if you do mean the violins, I have no friggin idea what song it was originally, I have a 7 second excerpt my friend dumped on my HD years ago with a bunch of other samples. It has some spanish (i think) jibberish in it if that helps
EDIT: also, you may be surprised just how violent and sudden the creation of some of that stuff was, certainly not delicate - perhaps some of it painstaking, but even the stuff that’s programmed was programmed energetically
All the beats were live, or derivatives of live stuff resampled.
Ah those were the days.
Here I was, Florida, early 1990s (said like Estell Getti from The Golden Girls)
I remember recording 6 hour blocks of audio with a VCR of random stuff on television using an Amiga 2000 and AMAS sound digitizer.
I used to have so many random samples of the wierdest crap imaginable. I threw my 2000 and a 2500 in a dumpster recently. Had created like 200+ assorted DSS and Octamed mods.
My favorite sample was when we were flipping through channels and you hear several seconds of the theme from the superman movie and then the channel was flipped to some fishing show and you here the music -
Da Na NA NA - “HO HI BABY”
Old man with an almost incoherant southern accident saying the ho hi baby after catching a fish.
Finally I know what breakcore is
And okay, as this is not really the style of music, I usually listen to, I cannot say "hey, I love that "
But this is technically well done Somehow, I like some passages of this work… Reminds me of “Bomb20”
downloading , will be backk
downloaded the set and listened to it this morning.
OH YEAH baby, who needs coffee with stuff like this!!
more people should release short sets like these, it’s a singleserving
napalm-dose-in-a-box, ready for takeaway! tight beats man, I also
enjoyed the atmosphere, not just “another” breakcore set, if you know
what I mean.
hehe good to hear it gave you a jolt BotB, as the sad truth is I originally made that set for my own personal use as a stimulant in online first person shooters (seemed to work - but I got 15 kills straight before someone took me down the first time I fired up battlefield with this playing )
Anyway, the main reason i dig up an old thread is that I noticed you are an acronym for both “Bottom of the Barrel” and “Best of the Best”, although to me it will always be “battle of the bulge”, which was a WWII battle, because of the amount of time I have spent in a past life in battlefield1942 forums for tournaments and stuff (freekin gamers and their LoL’s and RofLbbQ abbreviations )
so yeah was this obscure play on acronyms intentional or what?
hahaha, yeah never looked at it that way…
botb initially meant benefit of the boomerang
but everybody calls me botb, which makes a LOT more sense
bottom of the barrel and best of the best… awesome
some funn(k)y ideas hiden and nice samples. but overall, to much distortion!
imo, at some points it gets boring due to much chaos.
groove-control and eq’ing needed.
u know, cut is better than boost (EQ related)
keep it up.
btw: i dont like sets (for promo), do u?! makes u looking like a DJ
you are what you do
