Short Notes

Hi

Asides from increasing the resolution or automating the amp evelope is there a way of creating short notes from a VST instrument?

I get that there are ways of doing this in the effects column (with samples) but if I want to create a note which is shorter than the defined resolution of the pattern (with a vst instrument) I wondered if there was a way to cut it short/bring the ‘off’ sooner?

have you tried the fx (cut note after x ticks) command in the volume or pan column?

Centipus’ suggestion is correct, but if for example putting an F1 command (cut the note after 1 tick) is not short enough, try increasing the number of ticks per line using the F2xx command (xx = number of ticks per line, 10hex is the maximum). this way, a single tick will have less duration, thus F1 will be even shorter.

I thought you couldn’t apply the effect column to VST’s?

Fx is one of the effects which also work with VST instruments because it simply sends a note-off message
