The soft clipping in 1.8 seemed very reliable and i’ve never seen the clip indicator to light up. In 1.9 the indicator lights up regulary. What was changed here?
Its as reliable as before, but now the clipping indicator is set before any clipping is done.
Clipping is worse (soft clipped or not), so you should see when its applied…
That makes sense. Especially since we have the Maximizer now. 
Ah, and this was also done to get the “AutoAdjust Volume” thing working, even when the softclipping is enabled…
Might be a good idea to add it to the changelog maybe?
If we would start mentioning such tiny things there, you could easily use the changelog as toilet paper.

Erm… what do you mean by this? As it reads, this sentence means that the clipping indicator activates before any clipping occurs…

Yes, previously the clipping indicator was last in the chain, that’s changed now.
Before: [if it clips] → [perform soft clipping] → [show indicator]
Now: [if it clips] → [show indicator] → [perform soft clipping]
Much more useful now.
