[solved] Renoise Hangs When Starting To Play

Hi,

Im new to the forum, but think I should mention this bug.

With the 2.5 beta Im currently having the following problem:

When pressing play, the sequencer hangs, together with the sound. I have to press stop several times to stop the ‘playing’.

I didnt have this problem with the beta’s a week ago, but now I have it with any of the 2.5 versions I tried (b2 and b4).

Renoise 2.1 still works fine.

Im using OSX Snow Leopard (with all the latest updates) on a MacBook pro with a M-Audio Fast Track Pro usb soundcard, together with Soundflower. It seems the problem has occured since I updated my M-Audio driver last week (but Im not sure exactly), but it doesnt matter which driver I use at the moment (M-Audio, Soundflower or the internal Apple card). They all hang.

Any idea what might cause the problem? And does anyone else have similar problems?

Thx.

Hi, I am not having these problems.

In your preferences, are there any differences between 2.1 and 2.5 for:

  • Audio → Sample Rate, Latency
  • Audio → CPU Load and Threshold
  • GUI → Frame Rate

?

For every song?

All those things are the same.

It occures with every song. Also new ones.

Anything odd in the Console? (Applications -> Utilities -> Console -> Show Log List)

Check under “All Messages” for anything weird happening with your sound card.

Check under “FILES -> ~/Library/Logs/Renoise.log” for any clues.

If things worked fine before: Please also check your MIDI settings. Probably you’ve somehow create a MIDI feedback loop with virtual or real devices.

You could also try if trashing the preferences at ~/Library/Preferences/Renoise/V2.5.0 helps…

Ah, solved. It were the midi settings. Thnx a lot! :)
