[solved] Renoise is locking control of my midi controller

I’ve done this before and I have no idea why it’s just not working now. Basically I’m Rewiring Reaper and Renoise the Renoise as slave. I have 2 midi controllers so I want one set up for use in Reaper and one for Renoise. So I cleared one of the controllers in Renoise preferences so I could use it in Reaper while Rewired. I couldn’t use it in Reaper and kept getting a popup error saying in Reaper saying it couldn’t connect to it. That only starts happening after opening Renoise in Rewire.

To investigate I shut down Reaper and opened Renoise by itself.

Also if I go to the midi tab it shows keypresses when the keyboard is played, but it doesn’t play instruments with it.

Maybe your midi controller is bound to an instrument or parameter or a global midi parameter.

Have you got any tools installed? They can bypass the Renoise prefs and access devices directly…

Figured it out, it was noodle trap.
