Stack Dsp Ui`s Like A Deck Of Cards

This is a suggestion for a right-click menu option of the track DSP chain. i.e. can be switched between current behaviour and new via this.

When enabled the DSP UI`s would stack i.e.

One UI say a compressor would be in full view where as DSPs to the left and right would be mostly hidden except for thier name.

Right they say a picture is worth a thousand words (well maybe only 50 in the case of this one… :) ) . So what I am trying to show is the compressor in the centre. Stacked either side of it are other DSPs, like phaser, flanger etc.

-/ represents the bypass tick of each DSP

<> are are the arrows for moving the DSPs (not shown here for neatness on the stacked VST tabs but would be present)

The names of the individual DSPs would be shown on the tabs vertically to fit.

Left- clicking on any DSP name would bring that DSP into focus instead of in this case the compressor.

I think this could save a lot of scrolling and give a better over-view when you have lots of DSPs in a chain.

Ok, so I’m upping [I]this[I] topic, since it’s older than mine. I did a search before making it, just didn’t think of the verb ‘stack’ (like a deck of cards… that’s some “over my head” poetry :lol: ).

The only thing I add to this suggestion is to have the ‘open editor’ button there as well.

And I like the idea that clicking on a “narrowed” effect would minimize the currently open one and open the new one. It would be also useful to be able to have two (or more) of them opened at the same time… a setting in the preferences maybe?

Thats the first time an idea/ suggestion of mine for renoise has been described as poetry! Quite a complement I feel :D

Some nice additions to the idea there ermi, the open editor button would be cool and I agree that the number of opened UI`s should be a preference.

Why a preference? Why not just have a + and a -, to have it expanded or shrinked…

Not a bad idea either! The original idea was that this mode could be switched on by a right-click menu. The default would be that one UI would be in focus. Then maybe via prefence make it two. Having a +/- for each UI could be more cluttered but would be more flexible.

I would still ask for a right click to collapse to one UI in focus rather than having to do it manually for each UI just for speeds sake, if +/- buttons were added aswell.
