Structuring tips?

I use Renoise with an LPB of 16 or 8 for better syncopation and glitches but im generally having a hard time with structuring and arranging my songs cause theyre always like 1 to 2 minutes long no matter how long i try to flesh out my song

I’ve been learning Renoise and music production for 11 months now, and i feel rather proficient in everything but song structuring
If you have any tips for arraignment in general, please share some!!!

I like to work with 16 Lines per pattern, blocks of 4 patterns. Clone copy the blocks. Like Electribe drum-machines used to work.

I would suggest:

  • Check the matrix to get an overview of your song (when did you use which patterns)
  • Never use a pattern twice (unless you really want to create repetitive stuff)
  • Use the two instrument technique (always add at least 2 instruments, for example while building up your song)
  • Divide your song into sections, each section could be a block of 4 patterns (if LPB 16, then pattern length 256)
