Sumer is Icumen In semi-live/semi-modular cover

I’ve been building a small collection of real hardware to use along side Renoise and my pile of softsynths, including a not-very-well-populated modular rig. During the recent London heatwave, I decided to do a cover of this old medieval English round - partly because it’s a melody I like, partly because I still have some kinks/teething problems to work out in my new hybrid hardware/software workflow, partly just because I can.

Taking advantage of the fact that my wind synth can output onboard audio & MIDI simultaneously, I ran the MIDI through MIDI-to-CV and the audio through an envelope follower to filter & amplitude envelopes, to add a nice squelchy Moog lead to it.

Not a masterpiece - especially the rough vocals - but I had fun.
