Same old debate yet again. For now Taktik is busy doing something else. Nonforesable updates in near future. Stable version but no major upgrades for the past 2 years. Lots of happy buyers. Lots of unhappy buyers. Some dream of upgrades, some don’t care. Some want but don’t need, some want and also need. For many it is also perfect as is (like a beautiful woman). So either keep waiting or keep using, it’s totally upto you. As many opinions as there are people. I would say buy it and also use it well. Price is totally worth it, and the software is rock solid for what it does.
For expensive DAWs like Ableton or Cubase or whatever, I understand this line of thought.
For Renoise, and everything it gives you for 75 bucks, this sort of hemming and hawing is all a bit silly. It’s half the price of most popular soft-synths for an entire, fully featured DAW program.
Let’s see, I bought a license for 2.8 in November 2012. That was 65 months ago, and my Renoise upgrade policy is good through 3.8 (whenever that might be).
Maybe you are misunderstanding the upgrade policy a little? If you buy 3.1 today, you get to upgrade through 4.1 – so I’m not sure how 3.2 dropping tomorrow would sting. You’d still get a ton of upgrades after that. As mentioned, I’m at about 1/3 of the way through my upgrade policy, 5.5 years after initial purchase…
If you do understand the policy and don’t want to buy, well I’m guessing you just don’t really want Renoise, which is totally cool.
