Microtuning? I dont still get it!

happy tracking

I use it all the time now, every session, even when I’m not actually micro tuning, just twist a knob and you can pitch everything up or down,it’s amazing and hardly takes up any cpu

Is that this new Phrase script stuff?

No its just the microtuning that was added recently, allows complete freedom in tuning.Make your own scales,

use non western scales, mathematical scales etc.

mhhhh… I do not aware about any new knob controls. Is it maybe a hidden menu? Where to find that knob controls?

Under the instrument section where you pick the tuning, you can select to send to mts,it’s a separate plugin by ā€˜odd sound’ but if you have it,you can connect any instrument to it and use it as a global tuning device

Aha, thx for the info. I will check this out.

mhhh you mean the mts-mini freeware or have i need to buy the suite version? As far i see it seems to be a normal transpose plugin. Where is the difference between this and the normal instrument transpose function?

Hi yeah, so basically… so called equal temperament ( when anyone checks the math ) is not equal.. and there are more perfectly tuned scales available through MicroTuning ( only )

The Real Equal Temperament ( what people aspire to ), or what Bach / Beethoven & others called Well Temperament… ( the real most equal temperament ) is possible only through microtuning.. What is pre-set in synths, is slightly out of tune, and sounds un-natural, compared to instruments tuned by humans ( like Jimi Hendrix for example = microtuning… Mottown records = microtuning… Beatles music = microtuning… any choir singing anywhere = microtuning and most orchestras pre-2000’s = microtuning )

MicroTune

Here is an example, the lower melody is the microtuned one… the higher melody is the current ( so-colled ā€œ( yet not mathematically really )equalā€ ) western temperament…. you may just feel which one feels better ( the lower one is not only lower, the relations/micro tunes between all notes are ( micro )tuned - the higher is the regular equal temperament, where all notes are mathematically ( little bit ) out of tune ( compared to proper tuning systems )

In other words, even if not able to hear it, you ( and everyone ) will feel it ( because perfect tuning, is well… perfect compared to something that is not )

Hence microtuning is the key to setting humanity free ( from all this )

You talk about 432 Hz music? Oh wait, i changed scales with chords. :face_with_peeking_eye: Read somewhat about asian alternative scales. But never use alternative scales till now.

Think of it in terms of triangles… There are triangles that may make up triangles and some that are 3/4 of the size of a triangle

In a perfectly tuned chord, as i sent above, the ratios of the triangles are equal on all chords… in the so called equal temperament, they are broken… or they are almost the same in the different chords

Hopefully this helps

And yes, there is also the overall tuning of the total pitch that come in play with microtuning

So 2 things… ratios between the keys, and the total tuning of everything yes ( and not 432 herz… the real 432 is lower than that - and that is a whole another topic, anyhow, yes similar )

Or,if you really simplify it,a standard piano is tuned in a very particular way and has a set of possible notes. With micro tuning you can totally break away from this.

Imagine you make your own piano selecting what notes you want, maybe your piano only has 4 keys, maybe your piano has 50 keys, maybe your piano has no octaves at all, maybe your piano splits an octave into 21 notes instead of 12.This is what micro tuning can do for you.
