The Bitwig thread

and that is the point, you cant get bitwig 3.2 anymore. They should handle it same way as renoise.
Hey, i bought renoise at 3.1 that seems i can get renoise 4.1 for free in 40 years.

I’m using Reaper, Renoise and just bought Bitwig. The clip function, the included synths, the drum generators and the grid makes it a nobrainer. Especially in Linux. It crashed once because of a plugin and all you have to do is reactivate the audio enginge. It works and it is stable and that’s worth every euro.

Reaper offers more, but Bitwig and Renoise is much more fun to work with. With the device panel Bitwig is also similar to Renoise.

Is there a rewire option in Linux too, to make bitwig as a slave

You could use jack, but not with midi. Bitwig only has Alsa midi.

Thank… maybe they will give it free.

There is 3.32 now at the backstage. A bunch of important bugfixes.

New preference to receive notifications about “Early Access” releases (pre-releases and beta versions) [25198]

this - otherwise i have to look on renoise forum to be aware of the early-access release lol.
Thanks!

what do you guys think they will add for version 4 ???

I am a bit afraid that they will do is some very specific (DSP) stuff, a lot in the grid, and other niche stuff, while leaving the main workflow untouched (which I think could be improved).

Would love to see instead:

  • MSEG
  • VST undo, better undo (messages)
  • A/B quick preset button
  • Shuffle per track, groove templates
  • Real API like Renoise, manipulating note and automation data, providing GUI api, own shortcuts
  • Comfort GUI features like auto zoom track / automation
  • music theory stuff in the pianoroll
  • More open minded, XML song file format and readable/searchable databases, midi export (or via the new API)
  • Lot of improvement in the mixer view, sends shouldn’t waste so much space, auto highlight receiver paths like Renoise, but stronger visually, so using the mixer for workflow improvements
  • Own tags/colors in preset/plugin browser, removing those VST vendor inducted tags completely (imo useless since there is no standard)
  • Analzyer can have a permanent, non floating space in the gui, autoswitching while track switching (like Renoise ), adding L+R combined, L+R separately

So basically, Bitwig needs Taktik as developer.

i do not know what to think, tbh, but i would love to see some embedded video engine like ardour has its spot for Xjadeo…

i do not quite understand if this is on the vst developers side or the DAW side, since in several daws when i do undo shortcut, i got removed plugin, and this can get reaaaally painful, specially if you’ve tweaked the patch for the past 2 hours lol

note/midi devices are pretty useful so far… not deep enough i agree but combination can get pretty amazing… i think books should be for music theory :stuck_out_tongue:

i do not agree with this… i have small screen… 13’. Imagine more of ‘hardcoded’ space for analyzer… there is an device, and it’s floating window… Or if you have huge screen, detach mixer from arranger/launcher and put analyzer on mixer and there you go :stuck_out_tongue:

and Fabien Schivre for eq/dynamics dsp stuff, and u-he developers integrated

also i would like to see redux/tracker native paradigm available in Bitwig… i just want to be able to use keyboard to quickly sketch pattern/notes/drums like in Renoise… Or just make Redux a perfect midi tool for that!

There is a lot of talk about ‘midi grid’ - parallel to polygrid… idk if this is something they consider or not…
