Dude, let it go! The old mix from almost 7 years ago was and still is good enough. There’s not much difference between the old and the new mix, but indeed I think the new mix is a TAD better, because it seems the elements glue together a little more (especially the drums). Nevertheless I would suggest to compose some new stuff instead. Your mixes are good in general, don’t fiddle around just for a TAD of improvement. The average listener won’t notice anyway.
Dude, the track is even older, from 2017, the kwed entry once was updated. I don’t might the age of a song. Why not improve songs I like. Also make them loading just normally again on my arm macos. But thanks for the feedback about the mix, I feel also like it is more coherent now. Put it on my soundcloud now:
I have done some more mixing on this one. But there is something that still doesn’t fit, like it is still mumbling in the low end. Or is it just my headphones…
The drums are a bit lower now, but I think the bass could also be lower as well…
How do you experience the mixing on this one?
Finish now:
It’s good; bit too much panning < 400Hz possibly.
Might help to have more balance between the volumes of the brass and bass.
Hth
Thanks for taking your time and for your advices
I can hear what you mean. Panning on bass is no go. I will fix that.
What is the balance issue between brass and bass?
Does the brass needs to be louder, and/or is the bass also too loud?
Imo you should increase the volume of the bass and the background synths, and slightly decrease the volume of the lead instruments (lead, synth, organ). And I would choose a different title than “Terrasse Skruer”.
Would try it both ways, not sure without hearing, brass is normally pretty loud
…but i guess it’s more down to which ‘band members’ you would want to stand
out more on the sound stage.
I am trying out the new freeware FM/PM/RM synth “Six Sines”, seems to be a fabulous synth. It has four different modes, PM, RM, linear FM and exponential FM, and a lot more features. Well, FM is complicated to setup, so far I mostly modified presets more or less.
What do think, worth continuing? All sounds are Six Sines, except drums so far:
Currently I’m rewriting an unreleased Elektro track that I’ve already finished in 2012, but there’s a reason why I didn’t release it until today. I had to exchange the kick and all the synths (and the melodies as well), added another bass, a couple of pads and background stuff. Now it’s almost done and I already like it, but I “need to” add a few more instruments (currently I’m looking for an airy synth like an “artificial pipe” or something like that) for some more melodic elements at around 1:30 on one hand and on the other hand there has to be some more background stuff. And of course the mix needs some more finetuning.

Yes. Just don’t switch your synths that quick.
Sounds like a serious electro tune. You get better and better, really nice listening, inspiring. And thanks for listening.
Discovered in a trunk in the attic, tried to remove the dust:
Do you like it?
Yes, sounds very good. Good drive and nice guitar at 2:18. But I know that tune, you’ve posted it several times a couple of years ago if I remember correctly. The mix is good, time to release it. And I want to hear all the other Synthwave tunes that you’ve posted years ago as well. There was some really good stuff that I still need in my collection.
Thank you! I wish this would be true. I heavily improved my mixing and mastering skills within the recent years, but in my younger years I was way more creative when it comes to composition. Now that I’ve got the right setup I’m older and I have to deal with A LOT more crap in life. The world isn’t the same anymore. Not good for being free and creative. At least creating stuff is kinda fun and distracts from all that shit.

Zooming off …an awesome start of a track!
Cheers buddy, its actually 5 mins long atm, trying to finish it off
Not much going on here…
Started with this one yesterday. It’s pretty minimal and percussive and I used some glitch doofers from @slujr
Not mixed properly yet.
I do love dub techno and when I’m in the mood for it there’s nothing quite like it. Definitely stick with it, I feel like it’s missing one more core component but not sure what, sorry, that’s no help at all. Hope you finish this.
I think it could also be finished. Maybe some vocal snippets here and there would fit.
A second chord, pad or synth that is higher and lighter and slightly adds melody would be great.
