Thx 1138: Incidental Sound Architectures--free As Hell.

Hey, folks. First of all, here’s an observation that y’all probably already know, but I’m gonna say it anyway: Renoise is totally The Shizznit. Best damned program I’ve EVER used.

That said, if you want to hear a bit of what I’ve done with it, go here:

Derek C. F. Pegritz: Audio Works

If you scroll down a bit, past all the depressing-ass ambient stuff that totally rips off Coil’s How to Destroy Angels, you’ll find the album THX 1138: Incidental Sound Architectures downloadable in both high-quality mp3 (256kbps) and FLAC formats. Totally free, of course. Every song in the album was done entirely using Renoise and only three VST plugins: DBlue Glitch, CamelPhat, and CamelSpace.

THX 1138 is, beyond any shadow of a doubt, one of my alltime favorite sci-fi movies. If you haven’t seen it, do check it out. It’s the best thing George Lucas has ever done or will ever do. Yes, even better than Star Wars. A LOT better, in fact.

So, umm…check 'em out! And let me know what y’all think–I’m all about feedback!

Plus, if anyone wants to remix, sample, mess around with, or otherwise get at the tracks, just let me know and I can either send you .wav files or the .xrns files for the songs themselves. Have at it!

Nice stuff. :)

Awesome! Glad you liked it. There’ll be more coming in that vein pretty soon…

Speaking of which, I forgot to mention what kind of music I do so folks can at least get an idea what they’re checking out before they bother to click the link: the THX 1138 stuff is pretty standard IDM-type stuff (I’m not trying to break any new ground here, just create music that I enjoy) with touches of industrial, ambient, electro, and even a little house thrown in here and there ('cause, hey, even in an underground world of humans whose lives have become regimented like those of insects, you still gots to get a li’l funky sometimes).
