Tips for making leads in Renoise?

I’m getting more and more used to the pattern editor and wanted to know tips for making leads easier? Do most of you guys play leads through midi devices or use the computer keyboard?

I don’t like recording midi in renoise.

Typically I’ll either:

  • play something on a midi instrument to work out a phrase, and then sequence the notes using computer keyboard
  • record a sample of me playing and just use that

But that’s me. You might prefer to record midi and then edit it.
