[Tool] MIDI Convert Program Change

Hello. I’ve been trying to make Renoise export midi files using ffx’s Extended Midi Convert, and while most of it works, I can’t seem to get one essential feature (in my case) to work: program change. The exported midi files always default to acoustic grand piano. The channels work, as the drums channel (10) is properly assigned and works in the exported midi, but Program Change doesn’t, no matter if I use MIDI Control or manually put down Midi commands in the patterns (other Midi commands do work).

I’m wondering if that’s a current limitation of the tool or if it requires some specific setup for it to work. Couldn’t find anything on that.

Based on the readme of the tool, Program Change is not supported.@ffx is on the forum though!

Ah, alright. I couldn’t find anything related to program change, probably missed it. Wanted to avoid using external midi editors as they are so clunky to use, but guess I may have no choice. Thanks!

So, looking at the discussion thread of this tool, it’s development is a bit all over the place.

I forked the last update that was worked on and added prog change command support (@caldfir added default Prog Change before in that update). Didn’t test extensively but it seems to work and there is not much to it.

Hopefully this tool will converge at some point.

Here is a packed version with the updates above and my additions.

omg, I wasn’t expecting that. I’ll test it soon, thanks so much!
