Trigger sample points in pattern editor

I’ve went over a tutorial and read some of the manual but I’m missing something. Once you load a sample in, can you trigger a certain point in that sample by writing in it’s sample point in the editor. Like S10 or SF0, etc. If so, it’s not triggering these points.

Do I have to slice the sample first? Screenshot of what I’m seeing attached

You need to supply a note on the same line as the S effect.
