Two small requests: organize effects by type, and numeric dB display

Two small requests:

  1. Would be nice to have the Renoise effects organized by type (Delay, Dynamic, etc.). The manual actually organizes them this way, and I think it’s better than having one long list.

  2. Numeric display of Peak dB level for each track in the mixer. Currently you can only view the Peak dB level for the Master track, by highlighting it and viewing it in the DSP Pane. Seems like it would be easy enough to take that code and apply it to each track in the main mixer window.

You can do this already, by adding your own groups (right-click effect > add to group … if i remember correctly), and then sort and label as you like.

But I would like if it was possible to also add Renoise’s NATIVE effects to my own groups. For example I have a group called EQ, with all sorts of external eq-plugins, would be nice to have the native EQs in there too

The Renoise effects is what I meant, and pointed out that the manual has them organized by type.

oh ok, yup see your point now. you mean this i guess:http://tutorials.renoise.com/wiki/Audio_Effects
a bit weird that EQs and exciter are categorized under “Filter Devices” though, imo

Yeah that’s it, and it would help to have them laid out like that in Renoise:

Delay

Convolver

Delay

Multitap

Repeater

Reverb

Dynamics

Bus Compressor

Compressor

Gate

Maximizer

Filters

Analog

Comb

Digital

EQ5

EQ10

Exciter

Mixer EQ

Modulation

Chorus

Flanger

Phaser

Ringmod

Shape

Cabinet

Distortion

LofiMat

Tools

DC Offset

Gainer

Stereo Expander

The idea being, you think to yourself how you would like to alter the sound. What type of effect would you like to apply? Then you go to that section and choose from there, rather than having to try to sort through one big long list of effects that do different things. A small but worthwhile addition.

+1. Very helpful mixing-wise. I think cubase has such a feature in mixer view too.

Hi, I use this context menu tool, which organizes renoise fx in similar way:
