Urs Heckmann of U-he made an announcement on KVR that the long awaited, long anticipated Zebra 3 is not too far off. Zebra 3 and Zebra Legacy - u-he Forum - KVR Audio

His post has a lot of interesting information in it. While still at least a year off, U-he is offering some pretty good incentive deals for those who own the Zebra2 and Dark Zebra as well. It appears there may also be a Zebralette 3 released for user feedback too.

So

  • Z3 might come next year, some early preview might come end of this year
  • Z2 owner will get all soundsets and DZ for free later this year, and can upgrade to Z3 for 30 bucks
  • Z2/DZ owner will get all soundsets and Z3 for free later this year
  • Later this year, if you will buy Zebra Legacy (Z2+DZ+soundsets), you won’t get an upgrade path to Z3.

Maybe this means that buying Zebra2 only now is quite attractive…

Here’s how it breaks down:
Owners of Z2 get ZLegacy and can upgrade to Z3 for 30 bucks.
Owners of Z2 + HZ get Zlegacy and Z3.
Owners of Zlegacy that bought the product brand new get no upgrade path to Z3.

It would appear. The Legacy package that Urs describes along with the small cost of Z3 would justify it I think. I’ve owned Z2 and the HZ synths for years and love 'em. I’ve been one of “faithful” waiting for Z3 to appear and I’m sure it’s going to be incredible.
