Not really an issue, but it took me a while. When Renoise is in Fullscreen Mode it’s not possible to change the render options for exporting a track with the mouse pointer. What works only is to change the options (e.g. high priority, sampling rate, etc) by the mouse wheel. When not being in Fullscreen mode it’s working fine.
Is this broken with Wayland only, or also with X11?
Good point. I’ll check this after lunch. Possibly only Wayland, because I never realized it.
It’s only happening with Wayland. On x11 it’s fine.
I found some other issues in Wayland. Should we collect them here?
There are various implementations of the Wayland compositor. You may want to clarify the relevant version and environment information.
In my environment (Sway), the full screen mode is released as soon as the dialog appears and I seem to be able to interact with the dialog without any problems.
I suspect that the problem depends on the implementation of that Wayland compositor.
Environment:
- OS: Arch Linux x86_64
- Kernel: 6.11.1-arch1-1
- WM: sway
- sway-git 1.10.r7438.c90cb37-1
- wlroots-git 0.19.0.r7240.ab118042-1
- xorg-xwayland 24.1.2-1
- renoise 3.4.4-1
- alsa-lib 1.2.12-1
- libx11 1.8.10-1
- gcc-libs 14.2.1+r134+gab884fffe3fc-1
- mesa 1:24.2.3-1
Ahh… this is a behavior I’ve never seen. Another thing I observed is that when you are saving a file and enter the filename you can’t click with the left mouse button somewhere in the filename to edit it. The middle mouse button on the other hand works or one just can use the keyboard.
I also have an Expert Mouse here, but I never got used to it and I most of the time use a mouse.
Strictly speaking, Renoise, at least as of V3.4.4
, does not support working with the Wayland compositor.
If you are testing a development version of Renoise and it appears that the Renoise project is considering supporting the Wayland compositor, it would be good to discuss this in the alpha area.
Is that Wayland compositor Gnome?
If you see similar behavior in the latest version of the Wayland compositor (HEAD on the project repository), you can report it as an issue to that project.
If you are unable to build the latest version, I imagine that if you apologize for this and report the exact version number, etc. of the problem, you will be able to have a smooth dialogue with the project.
I reported such problems several times to the Sway project, and in response, the kind Sway developers resolved the issues so that Renoise on Sway is usable to a practical degree.
