Useful Tools?

There is http://www.taggtool.com/index.php which can do this, sort of. But it doesn’t move the files as far as I know. Instead you can catalogue your files using your customized taggs (multiple if you like). The app never touch your files but builds a database on the side which gives very fast search responses.

I use it for cataloging my hugh library of Reaktor ensembles and wavs.

Maybe a bigger and better file browser filling the entire screen like pattern view would be good. The file browser in Renoise is good enough but it’s just too damn small. As long as you have autoplay on select, easy renaming and dragging & dropping to other folders, i’m fine.

Usually when i start making a song from scratch I just browse my sample library for good sounds, loops, etc. But the thing is, that my library is scattered in hundreds of folders, sometimes named by song name, sometimes by Sampling session date, What kind of samples in that folder, or by instrument type. Basicly it’s just a big mess. I loaded all my sample CD’s to the hard drive, but they go missing easily and hard to find, cuz filenames are bad like, SMP-HS001-RWB.wav etc, so when i start looking for samples when i want to make a new song, i have to listen to EVERY sample in that folder to find the right one, since i havn’t found any good, ‘easy-to-use’ tool to listen, rename and drag&drop to more specific folders.

Maybe this should be posted in the Ideas & Suggestions section, but what if you could just like ZooTooK said “TAG” sounds in different categories. Like for instance. Choir, Bassdrums, Closed Hihats, House Loops, Special effects. Make your own tag descriptions and start browsing based on those, in a bigger view.

Furthest To the left, A Big list of tag buttons in categories you can set up yourself, right click to apply a tag to selected sample, and left click to list samples with that tag.

If you have access to a Mac, get Soundhack. You will be forever grateful that you did.

Found this one. Explorer2, and tryed it out yesterday. Does the trick with autoplaying wavs and most common sound files on click. Quite new to the program, but looking at the feature list i tink it got potential, didn’t have time to look at it much, but i hope it can rename several files at once.

yes, called ‘mass renaming’.
