Using Supercolider or PD as an external synth or effect

Hi!

I was wondering if it is possible to use Supercollider or PureData as an external synth or effect. I mean I’d love to create some strange synth or effect in SC or PD and send notes or audio to them, just you normally do with VST plug-ins. I know it’s possible to control Renoise via OSC, but I didn’t find a way to use Renoise as sequencer that controls (via OSC) stuff made with SC or PD (or Chuck, CSound too).

Well, you could use MIDI, or you could use something like http://www.lpaudiolab.com/cpicasso/proj/AUOSC/
