Virus On My 2.5

Hey - my AVG scan (which is still scanning) tells me I’ve got two trojans, one in the VST folder and one which is identified as the actual Renoise 2.5 exe file. WTF is going on? Have the files in question been infested by viruses, or does AVG for some reason think that Renoise is a virus?

Anyway - I’ve got a licence, so I guess it’s time to go 2.6. Thing is, I’ve never had a virus before (that I knew of - I’ve had plenty that I did not know of which ended up ruining previous computers) - so I don’t know what to do. Will I have to reinstall Windows and the whole shebang? Or can AVG (or other virus removal programs) get rid of the problem?

EDIT: seems like AVG fixed it, and Reason still works. Strange. I’ll check if the VST in question still works.

The renoise exe contains no virus - we can guarantee that if you downloaded the file from us. But Renoise will try to scan everything in your VST folder that looks like a DLL, in order to check if its a VST. Looks like one of the DLLs has a virus (maybe from some VST “test” versions you’ve downloaded) then.

It says that the Renoise 2.5 exe contains the virus, because Renoise loaded the dll file.

Simply trash the infected DLL, and do a full scan of your system.

OK - that explains what the different icons meant (one for the DLL another for the Renoise exe). Thanks for clarifying.
