Waiting for beatbattle...

How many of us are competing in the Beatbattle?
Have you finished already?
I haven’t sent my rns yet …I make some minor changes from time to time… but it’s there…
Would like to hear a word from other challengers

me :D
I havn’t sent my rns yet either. I will wait a few more days if I recognize I want to change anything… ;)
Mine will be more chip-hop than hip hop :D

i just sent in my small piano tune this afternoon. hopefully by the end of the week ill have a joint submission with some rapping on it.

i’ve had a riff lying around my computer since the very start… just never bothered doing anything with it

until yesterday, when i spent most of the day working on the song, and turned it into something i’m very happy with. still unfinished, but i can get it done.

hooray

Ok, here we go :)
I just sent my beat in… I hope I didn’t forgot about anything… :P
We’ll see tomorrow!

well, i guess i’m done. i’ll send it in shortly.

i went back into my song to finish it today - and it was all wrong! the panning was messed up, and it just generally sounded very different to version i had rendered at the end of my first session. so i spent almost two hours just trying to make the song sound like it used to, and trying to make sure that renoise would load it right next time.

so i was very frustrated at that point, and when i filled in the blanks in my song (my first session was mostly a rough draft, there were quite a few bits with missing/blank patterns) it was done quite mechanically and without soul and nowhere near as fun as the first session was :(

so now i think the song’s kinda sub-standard, whereas i used to really like it. also, after finishing the song and saving it, i bit the bullet and re-loaded renoise and the song, and once again it sounded different somehow. couldn’t put my finger on it, just different. i rendered it, and it seemed to sound right in WAV form, but when playing in renoise something was surely different.

developers:
look, i hate to be rude, but renoise 1.25 is f****ed up. just simply isn’t up to scratch - i mean, it ate my song! sure, it was far from a masterpiece, but what if it had been? please release a bug-fixed version as soon as possible. the instrument-clicking was bad enough, but knowing that i basically have to finish a song in a single session or not at all gives me even less reason to click the renoise icon. it sounds really snobbish, but i paid for this. i’d like it to work better.

i guess this is my punishment for not helping you squash bugs in the beta releases. i’ll make sure to help in the future (assuming that it’s possible to have both a full release and beta release installed at the same time - though in 1.25’s case, i’d take a beta over it anyday).

ahh, i’m sorry to hi-jack your thread with a massive rant, parsec. :(

on a lighter note, thumbs up to whoever made that PHHATT beat in the flash animation. on the beatbattle page. i spent several minutes just jamming with it B) B) B) good good stuff (all, like, three seconds of it  )

oh and for some reason my song now takes ages to load, i have to wait several seconds before i can play it without stuttering, and if i have this song loaded when i quit renoise it takes a long time to do so

these i can find no explanation for

1.26 is scheduled to be released now very soon. It is mainly a bugfix release, but of course we couldn’t stop ourselves from adding some small extras :)

Yes… definitely 1.25 had a lot of troublesome bugs… We’re all waiting for a new version to come out… Developers should REALLY get a move on this… as paying people can’t really use such a buggy version!
<_<

eheheh :) NoProbs…I understand, yes… you seemed so happy about your tune… I wouldn’t like at all to have it modified by the proggy… xpecially on the deadline of a compo!
:(
I’m looking forward to listen to your contribution :D

Cheers

Every time a new version comes out, it’s like Christmas for me

Rock on Renoise Team!

:yeah:

Dufey (Putting up the Christmas Tree … again)

I made a small track while being under influence of some heavy drugs (I hurt my back last week and spent several days with some morphin-substance to ease the pain), I am not sure if I will send it in … Sounds too lame now. :D

Gwilym :

I am sorry for the problems, but I can only fix bugs for a final release if either one of the devs knows of a problem, or a beta tester has reported it. I never released a version, knowing that there are some bugs in. This would be totally stupid, and I how this hurts if you have to work with a buggy program.

So my advice would be, that you help us finding the bugs by joining the beta tests as it seems that you are a kind of a bug magnet. I can also send you the 1.26 releasecandidate to check if all bugs are fixed now.

And if you have a problem with a song that doesnt run anymore or whatever, dont hesitate to send this song to me and I will do everything I can to fix it, or to fix Renoise to run this song ! I know how frustating it can be if you loose a song because of the fault of someone else (me, or Renoise in this case), so this stuff has always high priority for me !

1.25 is very buggy? I disagree strongly. For me everything except [instrument texts](http:// this-link-is-no-more-valid?act=ST&f=7&t=1816) works nicely.

yeah, i seem to be much better at catching bugs than i’d expect myself to be. as i said, i’ll definitely help you perfect the next release. and any subsequent releases, assuming that it’s possible to have both a beta and a final release installed at the same time - is it? for some reason i’ve always believed that it’s not, but i can’t think where i got that from.

…and i think my track will probably sound the same in 1.26 as in 1.25 B)

it was made entirely in 1.25; it’s not a backwards-compatibility issue. the problem just seemed to be that either loading or saving in 1.25 doesn’t load/save all of the channel settings.

but if i load it up in 1.26 and by some miracle it sounds closer to how it used to be, i’ll be very happy :) :)

you might be able to use my track to figure out why renoise takes so long to load it, though. wait til after the beatbattle i guess ;)

speaking of which, yes, perhaps the next competition of this type (and there should be more, they’re fun) should wait until after 1.26 is released.
hey, perhaps the winner of this beatbattle could choose the theme for the next, or make the sample pack? that’d be cool

Gwilym :

Please send me the song or write me a short mail, then I’ll send you the 1.26 releasecandidate and see what I can do to fix this for the compo …

a friend of mine have the same problem, but when I load the same song I don’t have it… a bit strange

I want to listen to the other entries!!!
 :yeah:

i really appreciate the thought, but i don’t think there’s anything you could do. at least not to recover my original channel settings, which are definitely lost forever (because when i loaded the song i had to re-set them all)

but yeah, i’ll send you a link to it; see if you can figure out why it sounds different in renoise as it does when rendered (oh, and the loading time thing). :)

lol, i’m stupid… Now I know why I didn’t have the same problem ;) I used 1.26 :)
