What can Renoise do that Ableton can't?

i know about plugdata, but i wanted something that comes in natively with renoise (like how Reaper has JS instruments), i feel like said integration with a native editor inside renoise could beef up the instrument editor a lot . Allowing for infinite modulation and effects processing capabilities. that would put renoise ahead of the curve, more than it already is

Verry unlikely that this is going to happen .

The underlying engine is not capable of fast modulation speeds , let alone build a complete modular system out of it .

Renoise dsp side is not it’s strongest point , and I guess it will never be ,

There is a reason why environments like max-msp ,pure data -supercollider are still used ( and to a certain extent reaktor ),simply because these environments are open ended .

Even if a modular environment is integrated into the daw ( like bitwig ) it still has major restricions like the inability to process recursive feedback looops ( 1 unit sample ) etc..
My 2 cents : Keep naggng to Taktik by providing a more robust internal midi routing system so we can use Plug data to it’s fullest

And by the way , Reaper JS is not really a part of reaper’s underlying engine is it ?

It’ s a separate scripting language .

You can create audio / midi efffects instruments etc but you can’t really modify reaper with JS , can you ?

You can do everything with plugdata and just load it as an effect-instrument in renoise , just like reaper - js ( with the only downside of renoise’s limited internal mid routing ..see above )

make a tool for this

@hotelsinus - these would need to be destructive, unless if the user was happy with having a “previous” & “modified” copy of the sample in the instrument. and what happens with slices?

Nothing. its a new sample player, not the built in instrument/sampler.
