The zebra lp vintage filter is the non oversampled, non fm audio rate capable version of the xmf filter type: analogue .
Funny why you prefer this one over the xmf version .
The dark zebra (diva) filters are also amazing
Interesting insight, thanks. Do you have any further tips for emulating analog ahrdware with Zebra, other filter types, random modulation? What I find sad in Zebra that osc drift is only a switch, not an amount. Deepmind actually has amounts for osc and parameter drift, also drift rate! I wish Zebra had that, too… How would I emulate the osc drift using a lfo or mod mapper or so?
I got an Electra One midi controller a few weeks ago. It is really a game changer, since it really give me the feeling that VSTs are like a real hardware synth. It is such a pleasure to edit sounds with real knobs rather than using a mouse !!
I use Renoise and the external midi out to control a Behringer RD8, TB3, SH1, Odyssey, and Alesis Quadrasynth QS5. The QS5 is my master keyboard for everything. The external synths are connected to analog 16-track mixer with reverb/delay/distortion pedals on the effects send. The stereo outs of the 16-track mixer and M-Audio soundcard are routed to a 3-channel DJ mixer, which Is routed to my speakers and back to my sound card. The DJ mixer allows me to hear the Renoise sampler and external synths in realtime, but the soundcard only records the external synths. This avoids a feedback loop. I like to combine Renoise sequencing with live performance, and multitrack the best takes in Bitwig. It’s a Frankenstein, but works for me.Alternate Groove on Soundcloud
Looks interesting! How does the VSTi integration work? Will the electra one value also update, if the vsti was changed in the gui or via automation? So is there some kind of hosting vst which loads other vsts?
Usual stuff like slightly detuning osc’s , adding some noise , modmapper to pitch , filter , osc effects etc…
If you don’t have zebra hz already , go for it …the filters are awesome
Hm, well, it is 100 euros only for those filters… Too expensive for me.
just an akai s1100 and a commodore 64 (-:
You control the C64 sid with renoise?
Yep, i have a mssiah cartridge in my commodore which has a midi in.
Normally you can just press the upper-right button to send a “patch request” to update the value on the controller sot that it matches the current values on the VST side. That said, it does not work with renoise, since renoise allows only a one-way communication with hardware controller if I understand correctly (i.e the controller can send information to renoise, but not the other way around). Maybe by writing a duplex tool for the electra one we could get it to work properly.
also the mssiah is able to create some really nice acid sounds
You have read in my thinking
I have hesitated to give you the idea of a trance gate
c64 leads are too agressive for me
How did this work out for you? Is the Polyend Tracker a good Renoise controller, or do you compose initial ideas in the Polyend Tracker to finish in Renoise? Just curious as I was thinking of getting the Polyend. Thanks.
Look at the Roli blocks. I have the seaboard and the lightpad blocks and they’re a nice way to get into mpe
Akai Fire was pretty near ideal as a compact Renoise controller, when I had the LED working. I wrote an xrnx tool for it but LED implementation was an unstable Lua/native interop hack (tool’s on my github if anyone wants to mess about, called “voidshine pyre”).
ExpressiveE’s Touche is also a great sidekick for filling patterns up with automation noise.
Using Polyend hardware to control Renoise sounds neat if it could be made to work, but I don’t expect this to be possible. Keyboard handling in Renoise is second to none.
All are synced by
RENOISE. All are ready to be sequenced by RENOISE.
What’s the stand you’re emu 6400 is sitting on ?
oh that’s something I got on Ebay… It was like 20 bucks…
Type on Synth Stand on Ebay… there’s a few of them. I don’t see the brand I have there now.
Korg Nanokey that’s it atm, and 130gB samples, 20 VST’s
