Mikko Tarmia - Penumbra Soundtrack - Special Edition (pc video game).
Never cared that much about Mayhem, but this album is full of weird structural sidesteps and varied vocals.
maybe, not the best song they did or one of the best songs ever in any way. but… maybe, it’s pretty brilliant to compare jesus asking someone to walk on the water with him to getting a draft notice. maybe, after thinking about some shit like that, the guitar solo becomes the most psychedelic music you ever heard. pink floyd? love them but, yeah, but, uhm… i think this ccr dude was serious???
i mean, maybe art and artistry are not the same thing. uhm, yeah.
+1
Team Doyobi. The Kphanapic Fragments. This is pretty close to a perfect record.
Chevelle - Still Running
At the moment, this gives me a kick (released at The Gathering 2009):

Hey all, just wanted to mention that I have been using Spotify web player a lot lately while I am at work. It allows me to instantly pull up most of the major music releases ever (at least a good chunk of them: 26+ million mp3s). So I decided to go to this thread, and start searching peoples’ recommendations on Spotify. I am able to pull up stuff people have recommended and check it out immediately. Really quick and great way to discover new music
I’ll add my contribution to the thread as well:
Noisia - Could this Be
Right now: Harthouse Six Flags
I decided to go back to the 1st page of this thread and start from there.
It is really interesting. I have had images disabled in my browser, so when I am pulling up these things on Spotify I don’t have any preconceived notions about the music. In most cases I don’t know what the genre is going to be beforehand, don’t know what year it came out or know anything about the artist if I have never heard of them.
So I’ve tried to listen to as many of them as I could off the first page. My favorites so far have been:
Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals
Some kind of progressive folk rock or something, I’m not really sure what to call the genre. Regardless there is some really good songwriting here! The singing and production sometimes reminds me of some 80’s/ Phil Collins or something, but I’m pretty sure it’s relatively new and supposed to sound sort of retro
Manu Delago - Made in Silence
I believe this is a single steel drummer, who occasionally is accompanied by another instrument such as an oboe or cello. His playing is polyrhythmic and all the songs are enchanting. Love it!
Maybe I’m crazy (and behind the times) but I’m going to continue to keep going through this thread to see what else I can discover
