Which keycommand would you prefer to use to close a lua dialog?

Hi, I’m wondering which keycommand or key you’d want to press, to universally/globally close a lua dialog?

i’ve seen ESC to be pretty popular. i’ve also made tab, backspace, space, enter a possibility. but are there others?

ESC by far. I associate ENTER as selecting a default button, whereas ESC should just close a dialog with no action taken.

yep, i’m finding it kinda problematic tho that Esc for me is also EditMode On/Off, which means i toggle Editmode On/Off and lose the dialog.
that’s why i’m looking for a different method of doing it.

but it seems that Tab, ESC, Space, Backspace, Enter is enough and nobody wants anything more like !

Yup. This is basically what the key was originally added for and still is used for: stop, cancel or close. Renoise uses it too in dialogs and actually also uses it for Lua lialogs unless you’re overriding the keyboard handling.

I am absolutely overriding the keyhandler w my own

This made me go check for myself something I must have done a thousand times. I opened up MIDI Mapping and then just hit Esc. It closed the dialog window and did nothing else. No edit mode toggling, etc.

I think then for most Renoise users, the default muscle-memory action would be to hit Esc, and if it did not close the dialog window then it feel wrong.

Are you looking to support all those keys?

I am offering configurability. So ppl can close with Q tab enter backspace space or Esc.
But also not close with Esc if they dont want to
