I said it wasn’t difficult, tracking is simpler than clip based sequencers IMO, but to those people it LOOKS difficult
I don’t like the idea of the entire sequencer completely changing to accommodate people who are really looking to use FL or cubase, those programs already exist for a reason…and this would fall under my aforementioned fear of the program losing it’s laser sharp focus, everything is designed with practical reasoning. I think there are legitimate reasons for a piano roll editor, it offers different strengths and weaknesses than the pattern editor and a program that brings the best of both worlds would be great - but I wouldn’t want it to be a simple imitation of other programs, if a piano roll were ever added to Renoise I’d like to see it incorporated in a way that is coherent with the rest of the program. That means being vertical, making switching between the two interfaces more seamless, as an added bonus that is actually a more normal way of looking at a piano…
It’s a hobby project nothing more, renoise does not have the features currently to take on the moniker of everyday usable DAW (believe it or not hard disk recording is actually quite common and not one of Renoises strong points, and that is only one blatant issue)
It has its userbase and wont go much past that in its current form (If its current users like hearing that is actually not important even if it isn’t what they want to hear)
it doesn’t come across that the devs see it as anything but a hobby, so why should anybody else ?
Enjoy it for what it is and if it gets updated enjoy what they add
