Windows 7 Problem With Audio

I’ve had this ever since I got a new laptop, which has Windows 7. (the laptop is HP Pavilion dv7 3015eo)

Every once in a while, audio won’t start. So I shut Renoise down and run it again until it doesn’t display the error message. Sometimes it’s the first try, sometimes the error doesn’t show up at all, sometimes it’s the fifth or the fourth try but it does start with not too many tries, but it’d still be nice to get it running without all this messing around.

Here’s the log:

If there’s any other info I can offer that might help tell me :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, I had this same problem with the unregistered 2.1 demo and now with the 2.5.0 b9.

I hate to bump threads but this has been driving me crazy lately… Sometimes I have a tune/beat on my mind and I forget it before I even get Renoise running -> frustration. Anyone, please, any ideas? Please :(

You get that if some other device is holding on to your device driver.

Possible suspects:
-Windows Media Player
-a webcam
-Skype or similar

Or perhaps windows allows energy-management to suspend the audio device driver.

As the others said, it looks like “something” is blocking your audio device. Something that attempt to use the device exclusively, like its for example done with ASIO. If this happens the next time, then please have a look into the task manager, what else is running except Renoise.

Alternatively there might be a problem with the driver in windows. Have you already tried installing the latest audio driver updates for the “HP Pavilion dv7 3015eo” -> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4062&lc=en&dlc=de&cc=de&product=4055242&lang=en ?
