I’m so glad that I can leave renoise in the background now without problems. On earlier versions, if I started surfing the net for too long without renoise playing, when I’d go back to renoise and try to play the song in memory, it used to almost lock up–took up a huge amount of processor time and be very hard to stop the song while the sound crackles and such. In fact, there were a couple times in the past where I had to use the task manager to quit renoise when that happened, but not anymore. I’ve been able to do other things for 8 hours on the computer and come back to renoise and continue what I was doing. I no longer have to save the song, then quit and reload renoise anymore.
You know, the entire time I’ve used renoise I haven’t used that button. I somehow assumed it would clear the song or something–like doing a reset on the whole program or something. Sometimes I can be a real airhead. Serves me right for using the tinker approach to learning programs instead of reading the manual.
heh, dont feel bad. i’m guilty of tinkering too!
i use that panic button a bit, i did not know that it use to be a switch for the engine. i have so much trouble balancing resources most the time, that i lock up renoise just about everytime i load my songs, an numerous times that panic button has REALLY saved my Ears!~~
i love the overload switch!!!
