Yet another VST question

Ok, this is the case.

I updated a vst a while ago ( like a year ) and now I’m trying to play back old tracks that I made with the older vst but the settings don’t come over. So I dug up the older .dll and put that one in my vst folder. I can play the old tracks :D unfortunately now I cant play my newer tracks. So I renamed the .dll file of the newer version.

Now my real question: Is there a way I can have renoise change the Name of the vst it’s scanning for?
This would make my life so much better :)

Is it not possible to copy the old or new dll file to a second, separately named VST folder then just add that folder as a second location in the plug-in preferences?
