You are very strong

hello, on renoise you are all very strong and I wonder about the place of amateur home studio in the world of renoise or another daw…
but how do you manage to reach such a sound level, I think about it, and I even think that you must have grown up with renoise or other daws…
as for me I have a very slow progression, I will never reach your level despite all my efforts or else I will need a second life or a third ear lol
to close the parenthesis continue like that and even if sometimes we get lost in your universes I still take pleasure in listening to you and of course in creating…
renoise’s approach is particular but more direct than any daw, in a few minutes a sound can be created the hardest part is to structure the piece with coherent arrangements…
here is renoiser
see you later

A lot users like me come from the tracker era back in the days. So they alreday have lot experiences. But any user can get such a level. It’s just a matter of practice. Watch tutorials, there are a lot good ones to learn from on Youtube. There’re also sites where you can download Renoise song projects where you can learn from. Also experiment a lot. You also even can learn things from making mistakes (also called “trial and error”).

Back in the days we had to learn all things by ourselves. We had no tutorial souces like Youtube or other sources because the www was not availabe yet. We shared our songs by giving them to friends, they to their friends and so on.

I totally understand where you are coming from, Olivier. The production values on a lot of songs these days are top notch! I am starting to pay more attention to things like compression and eq to lift out certain elements in a mix. I am also learning to use pan more (I am deaf in one ear, so all my mixes used to be dead center!)

Practice practice practice!

And good luck

If I had practiced Renoise as much as video games, I would have been a great musician. Sadly, it’s not the case, but hey, at least I master some video games. :grimacing: :smiling_face_with_tear:

Many grew up with trackers and started early, but even after decades of composing they are stil pleased with low quality “Amiga” sound. They don’t even have the intention to create a “professional sound”, and it’s absolutely understandable. So it depends on your gpals. IF your goal is to produce a “professional sound”, you gotta analyze “professional music” composition-wise and deal with mixing and mastering. It’s not that hard and doesn’t take that long to learn. You don’t need to know everything about it, just focus on some basics. Therefore you don’t have to sacrifice anything in your life to reach your goals in terms of music production. Just “listen to your heart” and you’ll know what’s best for you.

Never say never. All you need is firm will, regardless if you can spend a lot of time with music or not.

I always saw Renoise as my alternative to video games. Not sure if it made me a great musician but it did make me a great Renoise player user.

give all your attention to what you like.

A great way to learning is by teaching others.
